Announcing GangWars on Base
We are excited to announce the expansion of the GangWars game to Base in November.
We released GangWars on the ICON blockchain on 23rd May 2023, and the community embraced it with a growing demand for more daily wars, weapons, and items. With almost 500 total wars, ~10% of GangstaBet NFTs have participated and almost all the games are being filled instantly. So far, users have spent 24,000+ ICX and 500,000+ CROWN to participate in the games. With a well-received game on ICON, we aim to release a version of GangWars in Base to welcome more people into the GangstaVerse ecosystem.
Why Base?
We chose Base as the next chain for GangWars as it offers both value and utility for the GangstaVerse ecosystem. Base blockchain is powered by Coinbase, a renowned and trusted cryptocurrency platform. Coinbase’s extensive ecosystem opens up opportunities for networking, collaboration, and leveraging the platform’s remarkable $130 billion worth of assets. With millions of KYC-ed users in Coinbase, we expect many to join the Base ecosystem and hope to bring them to GangstaVerse.
One of the key advantages is that Base is built on the Ethereum blockchain, which provides a high level of security and decentralization. Base operates as an EVM-compatible Layer 2 solution, unlocking scalability and enabling faster and more efficient transactions. This scalability is crucial for handling the increasing demands of GangWars and accommodating a larger user base.
GangWars on Base: The Plan
GangWars on Base will be accessible to everyone since players will not need to hold any NFTs to participate, unlike GangWars in ICON blockchain. Players will need to pick off-chain characters like traditional web games. Playing a game would be as simple as logging in using a non-custodial wallet or a social login, selecting a character(s) from the pool, and participating in the war.
There will be free-to-play wars or wars with ETH as entry fees. New users can easily join free-to-play wars instantly after logging in. The winner wins prize crates, and the assets within them will be on-chain assets that can be used within the game or traded. The main objective of GangWars in Base is to bring mass adoption of the game to a bigger and newer user base.
ICON <> Base:
The vision of GangstaVerse is to be a multi-chain ecosystem. GangWars on Base will be our first initiative where people in different chains can participate directly or indirectly in GangWars games.
The playable character pool on Base will be generated from the original GangstaBet NFTs on the ICON blockchain. There will be limited slots on ICON for people to stake their original NFTs to generate characters. The stakers will get a portion of the rewards earned from the reward pool.
Players in Base can pick a character and play the game as a traditional game.
